FAQ’s
- How much does it cost to take part?
There is a £15 registration fee per walker. This only pays for the event costs, so we would urge you to raise as much sponsorship money as possible. Every penny you raise will go directly to helping our patients and their families.
- How long is the route?
The route is 10 miles and there will be a rest point along the way. Remember it is not a race!
- Where does the walk go?
MK Midnight Moo is a circular walk around Milton Keynes, and will pass the famous concrete cows.
- How long will it take?
The full 10 miles could take a fit walker approximately 3 hours, but there is no rush and we encourage walkers to go at their own pace (there are no prizes for finishing first, however there are prizes for the highest amounts of sponsorship raised!). There will be lead walkers setting the pace as well as walkers at the end of the herd to ensure the last participants return safely. It is important that members of the herd do not pass the lead walkers during the walk, this is for your own safety.
- Do I need to be fit?
No, you can take it at your own pace, but we do recommend that you train before taking part in the walk. Please refer to our training tips.
- Can we walk in a group?
Yes, we strongly recommend you walk in groups of two or more. You can tell us your team name and what exciting fundraising your team is doing.
- Where is the registration point and what time can we register?
Registration will take place at Midsummer Place Shopping Centre from 10.00pm, please do not arrive any earlier than 10.00pm. All walkers will need to be registered and ready for the warm up at 11.30pm. The walk will start promptly at 12.00 midnight.
- How much sponsorship do I have to raise?
We do not ask for a minimum amount of sponsorship but please remember every pound you raise will go towards helping Willen Hospice to provide specialist care to adults in Milton Keynes, and the surrounding areas, who have life limiting illnesses. There will be prizes for Flo’s Top Fundraisers.
- How can I get sponsorship?
Ask everyone you know, including work colleagues. Ask your employer if they will match fund your sponsorship and make sure people tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form. We also suggest you set up an online sponsorship site. Visit www.justgiving.com/willenhospice/raisemoney
- Who is eligible to tick the gift aid box?
If the person sponsoring you is a UK taxpayer, or pays Capital Gains Tax, then you can make a donation worth even more. For every £1 they give to you, we get an extra 25p, but only if they write their full home address including their postcode on your sponsor form. We can not use care of addresses. Willen Hospice only uses this information to process Gift Aid and will not contact your supporter without their permission.
